The board is designed to run with USB 2.0 PC port. The hardware drivers will be automatically installed during the timing commander installation. The board requires 3.3V supply and 1000mA rating. The board should have correct I2C bus voltage levels in which it can be achieved by powering the board from a PC. It is provided with a 38.88MHz crystal and will have a default frequency of 155.52MHz on Q0. The board allows flexibility for either differential or single-ended inputs while the input signals below 1MHz needs a coupling capacitors for the corresponding input are replaced with zero-ohm resistors and that the signal input dc-offset be set so that it meets the device's Vcmr requirements. On the output side, the output are ac-coupled, allowing for maximum flexibility for observation of the output whether configured for LVPECL, LVDS, or LVCMOS levels while the output signals below 1MHz requires the 1uF ac-coupling will be replaced by 0Ω resistors and the correct terminations will be provided at the receiver. The board is also provided with EEPROM but needs to be enabled. It also requires EEPROM boot and it can be enabled with three options: the No Rework Option, Rework Option, and Stand-Alone Use. Each of the option setup is provided by the manual of this board. The dc controls uses dip switch that has three settings such as 0V, Float, and VCC, and by default the switches are in Float position. The crystal interface uses a 38.88MHz SMD Crystal that provides the reference frequency for the device.
This board is helpful to data communication equipment developers particularly in frequency evaluation. It can also ensure that the gigabit and terabit IP switches build with respect to this type of frequency translator is functioning at its best performance. The SyncE(G.8262) applications can also be referred to this evaluation board.
