The PaLFI evaluation kit has various demonstration modes for performance evaluation with the battery-less Wireless Configuration Memory Mode showing the main function of the PaLFI. Using this mode, the memory of the TMS37157 can be altered without having a connection to a battery. Typical usage for this function could be storing configuration data in the TMS37157 memory. The stored data can be accessed after the microcontroller is activated and used for configuration or calibration purposes. The SPI access to the MSP430 Mode demonstrates sending data to the MSP430 microcontroller over the low frequency air interface. In this mode, the MSP430 can be powered from the low frequency RF field while data is passed. An LED is also powered from the RF field in this mode. Finally, Check Battery Level Mode can wirelessly read the battery voltage without invoking the MSP430 and indicate whether the voltage is within one of three preset thresholds.
