As discussed previously, PaLFI can be used to configure a device both wirelessly and without the use of a battery. Some example end equipment such as medical devices and portable electronics are shown here. It is also important to note that because of the characteristics of the low frequency technology used, these devices could be inside the product packaging when they are configured. This allows for configuration to occur at the end of the production line, reducing manufacturing costs and increasing throughput. The system block diagram illustrates a typical configuration set up with the MSP430 ultra low power microcontroller.
