These mixed signal MCU’s build upon the well established DNA that has made the MSP430 family successful for many years. The key DNA elements being, low power technology, a high degree of integration and ease of use. The MSP430FR599x devices offer TI’s highest level of signal processing performance to date, a high performance Low Energy Accelerator module (LEA) greatly reduces the processing time for over 50 signal processing functions including FFT’s, FIR filters and Matrix manipulations. Recusing cycle count at a low power consumption offers a significant energy saving when compared to existing MCU based solutions. In addition to the high performance processing this device also integrates a 12-bit, 200 Ksps analog to digital converter, a 16-channel analog comparator, unto 8 serial communication channels, hardware AES encryption and decryption module, plus flexible timers and a real time clock. This is one of the first microcontrollers in the world to feature 256 KB of low power embedded ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM), increasing the possibilities for data storage within battery powered or energy harvesting applications. FRAM also provides an unrivaled flexibility offering the developer to determine the ration of program and data memory. A comprehensive set of development tools and collateral are available, enabling engineers to quickly develop their first applications on these products. Including a low cost Launchpad development tool and dedicated software libraries such as the MSP430 DSP Library, engineers can quickly start to explore the possibilities that the LEA module can bring to the applications.
