This slide highlights some of the key features of the MSP430. It is a low power, high performance, 16-bit microcontroller, capable of 0.1 µA during power down and 0.8 µA in standby mode. The MSP430 can operate at up to 25 MHz with a start-up clock time of less than 6 µs. It supports Flash memory of up to 256kB, and up to 16kB of RAM. Many MSP430s come integrated with an LCD driver which can display up to three hundred and twenty segments. Also, there is a powerful analog front-end and good analog integration to complete a System-on-Chip solution. Many low power peripherals are available that boost performance as needed. Finally, the MSP430 has multiple communication peripherals to support different communication protocols, integrated real-time clock with temperature compensation, and an embedded emulation for debug.
