Based on the requirements for flow metering, the graph shown on this slide is a quick snapshot of what the MSP430 can offer, making it a good fit for flow metering applications. On the X-axis is memory, ranging from 1 kB to 256 kB currently, which will be extended up to 512 kB in the future. On the Y-axis, is the microcontroller and integration. The first level is a microcontroller only, without LCD or any other key features for flow meters. The next level is a microcontroller plus an LCD driver, then microcontrollers with built-in Scan I/F and LCD driver, then are the communications peripherals with microcontroller plus RF, and finally microcontrollers plus RF and LCD driver. One key take-away from this slide is that TI is committed to the metering business and to increasing and expanding the portfolio, devices in red show that TI is continuing to increase memory based on industry needs.
