Illustrated here is the internal structure of the 0603 case size FB series M type chip inductor, commonly used for noise countermeasures on a power supply line. This structure is very unique and cannot be found anywhere else. Since the floating capacitance (C) between the internal and external electrodes is very small, the resonant frequency (“Fo” as calculated by the equation shown here) is very high, making it suitable for high frequency ranges.
