In general, Schottky Diode performance can be greatly affected by foreign particles that enter the device during the manufacturing process. Pn Diodes are not affected by particles because the P channel is protected by silicon. Schottky Diodes, on the other hand, are configured with the P channel very close to the surface, making them susceptible to foreign particles. In order to reduce the introduction of foreign particles and, consequently leakage current, ROHM has established IC-style clean rooms at all manufacturing facilities. The result is the lowest leakage levels in the industry and higher ESD resistance. ROHM Schottky Diode part numbers begin with the letters RB.
