Migrating from 8/16-bit MCUs to 32-bit ARMs Slide 8
If more storage space than onboard flash can provide is needed, the NXP LPC2200 and LPC2400 series provide an external memory interface to address external NOR or NAND flash, SDRAM, and many other types of memory.  NXP’s external memory interface provides a full 32-bit memory interface, with 24 bit addressing capability and 4 chip selects.  As a side note, the SDRAM capability is limited to the LPC2400 series.  NXP has 8 and 16-bit memory busses available on certain products in these families if pin count is an issue or the external memory interface is being used as a parallel interface that doesn’t need a full 32-bit path.
