This table highlights the differences between the KA8 and the KA2 and shows how the KA8 fits into the KA family of devices. In addition to the difference in flash size, there is also a difference in the RAM size of the two lines. Other features the KA8 has that the KA2 does not are a 12-channel/10-bit ADC, an I2C interface, and a TPM. These new features allow the designer to perform more system integration using a KA8 device. The KA8 device also has the capability of running off a crystal whereas the KA2 device does not. Additional differences include the addition a MTIM and more I/Os. The KA8 provides an ideal migration path for moving from an eight-pin device to a 16-pin device in the RS08 family.
