Shown here is the block diagram of the MC9RS08KA8. As can be seen, this device is more feature-rich than the KA2 including an I²C interface and a 16-bit timer that allow many more applications to be created using the KA8 device. Additionally, this device includes an ICS (internal clock source), up to a 10MHz bus speed or a 20MHz CPU clock, 8k of flash, an ADC (analog-to-digital converter), a TPM (Timer/Pulse-width Modulator), I²C, two separate MTIM (modulo timers), and a KBI (keyboard interrupt).
