The KA8 microcontroller is part of the MC9RS08 family of low-end, low-cost products. This is a small pin-count device with an RS08 core that expands the KA family of devices. The KA8 adds more I/O, more ADC channels, and more features than the KA2 devices. Also, the KA8 is pin-compatible and feature-compatible with other RS08 families along with some S08  and V1 devices. Additionally, the KA8 not only provides a superset of features for the KA2, but there is also a KA8 that is pin-compatible with other parts like the SH and the QG families from the S08 line.
