With the Trion® family of FPGAs Efinix is focused on the consumer, industrial and communication markets. Efinix has been very successful in many industrial power and LED controller applications. Efinix’s low power and small packages are also very applicable to any IO, Internet of Things, and edge applications across those markets and segments. The FPGAs range from 4,000 Logic Elements to 200,000 Logic elements and are manufactured on a 40 nm low-power silicon process. They are traditional volatile SRAM based FPGAs that need a configuration device for loading the bitstream, such as a SPI flash. Alternatively, the customer can bit bang it with a microprocessor or some other device. Efinix has also integrated in some key hard block functions inside some of the Trion family members. With multiple MIPI/CSI-2 blocks, these hardened blocks offer great camera sensor interfacing solutions, each with enough logic to actually accomplish image processing inside of the device. Efinix has hardened DDR Memory controllers in some of the devices for interfacing to a frame buffer or other system memory. Hardening these blocks allows the Trion Family to reach performance levels typically only available on much higher end FPGAs with much higher power, cost, and physically larger packages.
