Bourns® FW Series fusible wirewound resistors are capable of providing protection from inrush current. Shown here in the graph of current over time, inrush current occurs at the initial application of power. When electrical devices first power up, the circuit may experience very high inrush current. As other power components and devices become energized, they also draw far more current than the normal operating current levels. FW Series fusible resistors have an inherent resistance value that can protect sensitive electronics from inrush current hazards.
