Allegro Microsystems is offering Power Monitoring ICs like the ACS37800 in order to measure single phase AC and DC signals in many applications requiring reinforced isolation up to 517 VRMS continuously, and 4.8 kVRMS for dielectric Strength Test Voltage following the UL60950 standard. Coming in a compact SOIC16 package with only 0.85 mΩ internal conductor resistance, it can withstand high currents up to 90 A, and even 180 A with a lower accuracy without overheating, or consuming too much energy. It can communicate with the central system with SPI protocol when noise is important, and with the I2C interface when there are multiple sensors on one line. It also supports a wide array of applications thanks to the typical industrial temperature range of -40 to 125oC, and two voltage supply options from 3 V to 5.5 V. Lastly, it features a 1 kHz bandwidth, and can react very quickly to overcurrent situations thanks to a fast user-programmable fault pin sending an alert in typically less than 5 microseconds.
