The ISL94216EVKIT1Z evaluation kit and GUI is used to evaluate the features of the ISL94216 16-cell battery front end (BFE) IC. A battery front end is an essential component of any battery management system (BMS), which periodically scans battery status and the operating environment to optimize battery life and prevent catastrophic failures.
The ISL94216 GUI is built on top of Excel using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA 1.00). It is designed to allow users to perform detailed evaluation of the ISL94216 and also includes a simplified demonstration GUI.
The ISL94216 is a high-side, monolithic, battery protection and monitor IC for 4S to 16S batteries, typically used in e-bikes, energy storage/battery backup, robotics, and mobility applications. This battery front end device supports I2C, SPI and single wire protocols allowing customers to connect an MCU in a proprietary battery management solution. Additionally, the device features internal cell balancing circuitry that provides 8mA of balance current per cell. External cell balancing for higher currents is also supported. The ISL94216 is offered in an efficient 64 Ld QFN package with a thermal pad.
