The design is comprised of USB2SERA11CFK bridge controller IC that serves as the main component of the system. It provides the interface between the USB and UART with only few external components is required. It receives and transmits signals from a USB port and UART port with the transceiver. The UART transceiver IC secures the RS-232 port operation, which has low-dropout transmitter output stage enabling true RS-232 performance from a 3.0V to 5.5V supply with a dual charge pump. The Transient-Voltage-Suppression (TVS) diode secures the circuit from possible voltage spikes and other types of faults. The capacitors help in stabilizing component while in operation. The resistor acts as limiter for possible surges and voltage reference for supplies.
In embedded development, ports are very important since it provides ease of interfacing. The design allows the embedded developers to access more devices that can add functionalities to their system. It is also convenient to use it for general-purpose applications.
