Updates on United States tariff policies

On May 28 2024, 89 FR 46252 was published indicating the United States Trade Representatives in request for comments on proposed modifications to the section 301 tariffs on goods imported with a Country of Origin of China that started in June of 2018. These modifications detailed intentions to raise tariffs across several different product categories by Harmonized Tariff Code when sourced with a China country of origin. particularly impacted, were certain semiconductors, increasing from 25% to a 50% tariff rate.

89 FR 76581 published on September 18th, 2024, indicated the intention for these tariffs to activate on January 1st of the indicated years, or in the case of changes happening in 2024, in September.

DigiKey works to mitigate the impact of tariffs on our customers by leveraging our partnerships with our suppliers, our Foreign Trade Zone, and Duty Drawback programs so that we can continue to reduce these costs where possible
